Charisse was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday after suffering an apparent heart attack, said her publicist, Gene Schwam.

She appeared in dramatic films, but her fame came from the Technicolor musicals of the 1940s and 1950s.

Classically trained, she could dance anything, from a pas de deux in 1946’s “Ziegfeld Follies” to the lowdown Mickey Spillane satire of 1953’s “The Band Wagon” (with Astaire).

She also forged a popular song-and-dance partnership on television and in nightclub appearances with her husband, singer Tony Martin.

Her height was 5 feet, 6 inches, but in high heels and full-length stockings, she seemed serenely tall, and she moved with extraordinary grace. Her flawless beauty and jet-black hair contributed to an aura of perfection that Astaire described in his 1959 memoir, “Steps in Time,” as “beautiful dynamite.”

“Her beauty was breathtaking,” Debbie Reynolds, who starred with Charisse in the 1952 classic “Singin’ in the Rain,” said in a statement. “The world will miss her dancing.”

Charisse arrived at MGM as the studio was establishing itself as the king of musicals. Three producers — Arthur Freed, Joe Pasternak and Jack Cummings — headed units that drew from the greatest collection of musical talent. Dancers, singers, directors, choreographers, composers, conductors and a symphony-size orchestra were under contract and available. The contract list also included the screen’s two greatest male dancers: Astaire and Kelly.

Astaire, who danced with her in “The Band Wagon” and “Silk Stockings,” said of Charisse in a 1983 interview: “She wasn’t a tap dancer, she’s just beautiful, trained, very strong in whatever we did. When we were dancing, we didn’t know what time it was.”

She first gained notice as a member of the famed Ballet Russe, and got her start in Hollywood when star David Lichine was hired by Columbia Pictures for a ballet sequence in a 1943 Don Ameche-Janet Blair musical, “Something to Shout About.”

Legendary entertainer Liza Minnelli has won a battle to defend herself in person against claims she forced herself on her former driver. The 62-year-old star is being sued for $100 million (?50 million) by her former chauffeur M’hammed Soumayah - who claims Minnelli forced him to have sexual relations “without his consent” in 2004. Soumayah alleges to have suffered assault and battery in the case, claiming his pay was withheld until he performed certain services for the star. Soumayah’s lawyer suggested the star give testimony by video, as Minnelli “has been known to have professional commitments to meet”. But Minnelli’s rep has insisted the request is “just a way to embarrass” the singer and would suggest she isn’t sound enough to appear for the deposition in person. Minnelli is scheduled to make a pre-trial statement in Manhattan Supreme court on 15 August . The Cabaret star’s lawyers have previously called Soumayah’s lawsuit “a quicksand of untruths and misstatements” and accused him of an attempt to “shakedown” Minnelli for financial gain. This is not Minnelli’s sole experience dealing with sexual harassment lawsuits. The star’s suit against her former husband David Gest was thrown out of court by a New York federal judge in 2006 before the couple’s divorce was finalised the following year .

After buying his first gear syhth (a Roland Juno-106), he played in several festivals with unnumberable rock and implemental alternative bands of São Paulo (Brazil) such as Banda Azo and Celso Pixinga. With the band Espírito Cigano, he played several shows all over Brazil. After octonary months, he left it in order to dedicate himself wholly to its first gear solo album. After graduating in architecture, he founded the Brazilian phonograph recording company Azul Music in 1993 and released his first solo album ll That Binds. By this label, Corciolli owns the Sharp Award and the Internacional Award Design with the CD Girassol, from d Ribeiro Lima.

He also produced compilations for several Brazilian magazines such as Isto É, Planeta, Planeta Nova Era, AudioNews, among others. In 1996 he performed at Memorial da América Latina and recorded an album with the Tibetan Monks of Gaden Shartse, uniting sacred chants from the Buddhist traditions and western music.

His first gear acquittance on the Oreade label, Unio Mystica, was the branch of a selfsame special contrive, introducing newfangled techniques in recording and artistic conceptions, the union of sonorous atmospheres with his piano and keyboards, the vocal attributes of soprano Adriana Mezzadri together with Gregorian and Arab chants.
